Notes

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Kielbasa

  • If you're using smoked kielbasa, it’s ready to eat! Simply slice it into 1-inch pieces for grilling or pan-frying.
  • If you’re using fresh kielbasa, make sure it’s fully cooked through. You can either grill it, sauté it in a pan, or boil it (depending on your preference).

Step 2: Roast the Potatoes

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small, bite-sized cubes.
  3. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, and rosemary.
  4. Toss the potatoes to coat evenly and spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  5. Roast the potatoes for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 3: Cook the Kielbasa

  • Grilling Kielbasa:
Heat your grill to medium-high. Grill the kielbasa for about 5-7 minutes per side until it is nicely charred and heated through.
  • Pan-Frying Kielbasa:
Heat a skillet over medium heat with a small amount of oil. Add the kielbasa and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, turning occasionally to get an even, golden-brown crust.
  • Boiling Kielbasa:
If you prefer to boil the kielbasa, add it to a pot of boiling water. Let it cook for about 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness and whether it’s smoked or fresh.

Step 4: Sauté the Onions (Optional)

  1. If you’d like to add some caramelized onions to your dish, slice the onion thinly.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  3. Add the onions and cook, stirring frequently, for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and caramelized.

Step 5: Heat the Sauerkraut

  1. In a small pot, heat the sauerkraut over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. If you like, you can add a little apple cider vinegar or broth to enhance the flavor.

Step 6: Assemble the Dish

  1. Place the cooked kielbasa on a serving platter or individual plates.
  2. Add a serving of roasted potatoes on the side.
  3. Spoon the heated sauerkraut next to the kielbasa.
  4. Top with the caramelized onions (if using) for extra flavor.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.

Step 7: Serve

  • Serve the kielbasa with a side of mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Enjoy your kielbasa meal with your family or guests!
